Ceremony on the awarding of the Order of Merrit of the Federal Republic of Germany to Prof. Dietmar Rothermund

For the achievements for the South Asia Institute, his contributions to the distribution of knowledge on India and South Asia in Germany and his impressing academic work, Prof. Dietmar Rothermund has been awarded with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merrit of the Federal Republic of Germany. On this occasion the South Asia Institute of Heidelberg University is happy to conduct a ceremony at which the Order of Merrit will be handed over to Prof. Rothermund.

We thus invite you cordially to join this ceremony on Thursday, October 20th 2011 at 15.30h at the library of the South Asia Institute, Im Neuenheimer Feld 330. The Order of Merrit will be handed over by the rector of Heidelberg University, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eitel and the laudatio will be held by the historian and dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Manfred Berg.
