Exhibition: „at a tent near you“

Until May 31th 2013 the South Asia Institute presents in cooperation with the
Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe" of Heidelberg University and with support from
the German-Indian Society a series of photos of the former cluster member Amit Madheshiya.
The exhibition titled "at a tent near you" completes the anniversary celebrations of the
South Asia Institute and can be visited in the foyer of the South Asia Institute.
Amit Madheshiya took first place with his images in 2011 in the category "Arts and Entertainment
/ Stories" of the World Press Photo Award. The photos convey the special atmosphere and the
feelings of visitors of Indian traveling cinemas. The photo recordings emerge from research
in which he examined traveling cinemas as cultural phenomena in cooperation with Shirley Abraham.
