Heidelberg University launches its Heidelberg Centre South Asia
The Heidelberg Centre South Asia aims at further enhancing academic cooperation between Heidelberg University and leading research and teaching institutions in the countries of South Asia. It can draw on 47 years of experience in academic cooperation in the region of its South Asia Institute, which runs its Branch Office in New Delhi since 1962, and the evolving networks of the Cluster of Excellence 'Asia and Europe in a Global Context', which has joined the SAI Branch Office in May this year.
The Heidelberg Centre will be one of the largest German university representations in India, whose numbers are expected to increase in the coming years in the course of the German Foreign and Education Ministries' joint 'Research and Academic Relations Initiative'. The Office will become fully functional with the deployment of additional staff and the planned relocation under the roof of the German Science Forum here in Delhi in the course of 2010/11.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on 17th November, 4 pm, at Max Mueller Bhavan.
