Nepali Intensive

Laxmi Nath Shresta
  • This course provides a great chance to learn and practice Nepali intensively, in a lively format. Through its success in previous years, the course has become a regular feature of the Heidelberg Summer Schools. A special feature of this course is that students are encouraged from the very first day to speak only Nepali.
  • The course

(6 ECTS points) The focus will be on the application of the acquired skills in real-life contexts and will involve practical exercises such as dialogue-training, letter-writing, rehearsing Ne- pali songs, and more. Furthermore, students will also be introduced to the applied geography of Nepal and the diversity of its local customs. The course thus teaches the skills that are necessary for a genuine engagement with Nepalese culture, required for example in the context of fieldwork-related research, work in NGOs, but also of great use during personal vacations.
