Comment Religion. An Oriya Khauda-Kâvya dealing with the legend of the installation of the wooden images of Lord Jagannâtha etc...at the Purusottama kshetra. The story narrates vividly how the dead body of Krshna cast in the ocean at Dvârakâ by the Pândavas later assumed the form of a wooden log which was salvaged bz the men of Indradzumna and given the shape of Jagannâtha by the divine carpenter. The text is probably identical with the Deula Tolâ of Shishudâmadâsa. It has been transcribed twice from the Project owned manuscript bearing Cat. No. 7 (ie. Harivamsha Pûrana) of which it forms an appendix, once independently (Trans. No. 174) and again together with the Oriya Starivamsha Pûrana, Vol. II (Trans. No. 338).

Comment Religion. A sanskrit metrical work on the "left path" (vâma- mârga) of Shâkta Tantra. It describes inits 15 patalas by way of conversation between Shiva and Pârvatî the religious practices of the Kanlas, especially their mode of worshipping Kâlî and Târâ with five makâras (wine, meat, fish, women and Mudrâ). Special stress is laid thereby on a sexual relationship with a shakti or "Latâ" as a part of the ritual of Pûjâ. Copied from a Project owned p.l. MS No.91/92.

Comment Religion. A Sanskrit work dealing with the ritual of 12 main festivals (yâtrâs) of the Jagannâtha Temple as well as some other periodic festivals (upayâtrâs). The work also describes the rite of daily Pûjâ. It is ascribed to Raghunandana, the famous 16th century Smrti writer of Bengal, who is credited to have composed 18 tattvas, all connected with Dharmashâstra, among which the present work is usually not found to be included. However it is said to be a part of his Smrtitattva. Copied from a printed edition of this work published in Bengali characters by the Sanskrit Sâhitya Parishad, Calcutta in the year 1926.

Comment Esoteric religion. A copy of the MS No.57 owned by the ORP. The work seems to be an abridged version of the Vedântasâra-Guptagîtâ by Balarâmadâsa, one of the Pancasakhâs who was patronised and supported by Gojapali Prataparudradeva (1497-1540 A.D). The work designates itself as Guptagîtâtîkâ (commentary, purport) because it tries to recapitulate the philosophical ideas of Balarâmadâsa in a succint and readable form; hence also a new byname.

An Oriya lyrical kâvya with a strong influence of Bengali language on the sportive activities of Krishna in Vrndâvana in spring season. The description centres around the sports of Râsa, or the circular dance performed by Krishna with Gopîs. The work may be designated as a free adaptation in Oriya/Bengali of the Gîtagovinda of Jayadeva. salutation to Caitanya and his immediate followers in the beginning shows that the work originated in the circle of Gaudîya Vishnuism. Comment Râsa lila of Lord Krshna. (available in two versions, copied from two different manuscripts). This kâvya is also contained in another volume bearing originally copy No.369.

Comment Worship of goddess, Shyana (Kali). Incomplete: first half is missing. A work almost identical in nature with the work of Nidhi Mishra but different from it. While describing the ritual of the Pûjâ of Kâlî it frequently quotes older authorities, especially the Durgotsavacandrikâ of Varddhamâna. The five ma-kâras play also here an important role. The author calls himself advaita-pathi-pathika (a follower of the monistic school of Shankaracarya) towards the end of all vîcîs. The transcript contains only vîcîs 9 to 15, ie the later half of the work.

Comment Incomplete. Translation from Oriya. A comprehensive work on the ritual of consecration of newly built temples dedicated to any form or aspect of Vishnu, however mainly to Nârâyana with Lakshmî. Though not directly dependent on Stayashîrsha-pâncarâtra, it follows in general the procedure prescribed in this work; hence the subtitle contains a number of quotations from older works, but often without mentioning the sources. The vedic Mantras are mostly from the Kanva recension of the White Yajurveda and the ritual is much more vedic than tantric in nature. Complete in 2 volumes copied out from the ORP MS 76A and 76B (Folia 1-200).

Précis A small Sanskrit treatise by the most famous and proliferous of the Gosvâmins on the ritual of worshipping Krshna and Râdhâ according to the tenets of the Gaudîya school of Vishnuism. It is an extremely simplified version of the Âgamic Pûjâ and is the only one which is almost exclusively followed today in the Krshnaite temples of North India and Bengal. The work has been published by Shrî Krshnadâsa Bâbâ of Vrndâvana. The MS contains in the end some verses in praise of Caitanya, Nityânanda as well as the eight sakhîs of Râdhâ, i.e. Lalitâ, Vishâkhâ etc.
