Sanskrit Text Readings

This module provides necessary proficiency and practice in reading, understanding and translating Sanskrit texts. The choice of texts is according to the degree of linguistic complexity and thematic relevance for a group of students and involves basic texts like Bhagavadgītā or Nalopākhyāna, advanced texts like Upaniṣad and Purāṇa to higher level literary works or Kāvya. Besides grammatical and linguistic analysis, a student learns the text critical methods for interpreting and contextualizing the written with the actual.
