Culture and Philosophy
The first course of this module focuses on the social-history of Hinduism specially Dharma-literature including caste system, life-cycle rituals, social hierarchy and organization of indian society, kingship and law, political systems and gender relationships. The other course attends to one or more of the following topics: The six philosophical systems as well as buddhist philosophy, grammar (vyākaraṇa), rituals (kalpa), geometry and mathematics (śulbasūtra), astronomy and astrology (jyotiṣa), indian medicine (āyurveda) and architecture (śilpaśāstra) etc.
